"I always thought Asian representation in North America was severely lacking, so it means a lot when people tell me, 'It's so cool to see another fellow Asian up there, and it's someone I can look up to.'"

Best known for his electronic (sadboi) dance music and anime remixes, Dabin chatted with BuzzFeed about upcoming projects, his experience being Asian in the music industry, and more before his performance at the Shrine LA for his Between Broken Tour. Here's everything we learned:

1. After 11 years in the industry, Dabin has made a name for himself in the EDM community and continues to inspire young Asian creatives to live their dreams.

"It's such a blessing to be able to represent Asians in the creative industry. I always thought that the Asian representation in North America was severely lacking, so it means a lot when people come up to me during the shows and tell me, 'It's so cool to see another fellow Asian up there, and it's someone I can look up to.' It's such an honor to be that kind of person for some people. I hope I'm doing a good job representing you guys."

2. As an Asian musician, Dabin is excited about what the future holds and what the Asian community can bring to the table.

"I feel like we have a lot to bring to the table, a lot of influences. We grew up listening to different music. We grew up learning different instruments and different music theories, so we have a lot to bring to the table. Even now, listening to stuff like K-pop, there are so many fresh ideas, and just the idea of being able to bring that to a North American audience is very exciting, so I feel like we have a lot to offer not only in EDM but worldwide."

3. He understands the pressure put on someone growing up Asian but hopes creatives can break through in order to live their dreams.

"To young Asian creatives right now, I would say don't be deterred by your parents," he laughed. "Because I know how a lot of Asian parents are. They want you to be doctors. They want you to be lawyers. But you know, at the end of the day, you got to do what makes you happy, and I feel like, at the end of the day, your parents put that pressure on you because they just want to know that you can financially support yourselves and them as well. So, just prove them wrong. Work hard, and be that person who can do what they love and also support your family."

4. Over the years, Dabin has collaborated with many artists to create new music, including Illenium, Said the Sky, and Slander, and he will be working on another collaboration with Jason Ross in the near future.

"Jason Ross is such an awesome collaborator. He came from the trance world, and I was doing a lot of melodic dubstep at the time, so being able to come and fuse our mediums together into the new melodic dubstep future bass wave that's kind of been dominating a lot of the EDM realm for the past few years has just been awesome. Definitely working on another one with this boy soon."

5. Dabin went viral on TikTok for incorporating his love of anime into his sets, and he will be creating an official remix for the new Demon Slayer movie.

"We did an official remix for the Demon Slayer movie, and I'll be playing that tonight at the Shrine, so more details on that soon, and yeah just a bunch of other fun stuff that we're working on. I'm taking a lot of the year to just relax from a lot of touring and just focus on writing new music, so I'm very excited to get back into the studio."

Mid-interview, we decided to ask some quick questions while playing Smash-or-Pass Anime Characters using a TikTok filter.

6. Who's your favorite anime character right now?
