Nothing hits the spot quite like a delicious piece of garlic bread. Whether you eat it on its own or pair it with a bowl of pasta, there's just something so craveable about the simple combination of garlic and butter spread onto a crispy, crunchy piece of toasted bread. As if traditional garlic bread wasn't tasty enough, cookbook author Jake Cohen recently took things to the next level on TikTok. In addition to a stick of butter, salt, fresh basil, and a pinch of crushed red pepper, Cohen's recipe calls for four entire heads of garlic — yes, we said heads not cloves.
Does this seem like an excessive amount of garlic? Uh, yeah. But when you taste a slice of this heavenly garlic bread, you'll realize why Cohen included that much of it. The flavors of the basil, crushed red pepper, and butter still come through all that garlic, and the garlic actually isn't overpowering at all. That's because each head is slow-roasted in the oven for an entire hour before being folded into the butter. As a result, the garlic is neither sharp nor pungent, but rather rich, creamy, savory, and all around perfect for garlic bread. Seriously, you have to try this for yourself.
