Definitely didn't realize Kanye West has headlined Coachella before.

What I didn't realize though, was that Ye has headlined at Coachella before, in 2011. Additionally, the types of artists who have headlined the festival have definitely changed over the years. About a decade ago, mostly rock and indie musicians were featured, whereas in recent years, the headliners have been mostly pop and rap artists.

If you feel like taking a trip down memory lane, here is a complete list of every headliner at the festival since 2011:

2011: Kings of Leon, Arcade Fire, Kanye West, and The Strokes

It seems like Coachella 2011 was a really good time. Kings of Leon were the final act on Day 1, and left everyone wanting more. Arcade Fire apparently had huge balloons fly above the stage, while they performed their hit song, "Wake Up." Kanye West drew a large crowd while he performed songs from his album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. The Strokes also rocked the show and wow-ed fans with their songs, "Last Nite" and "Take It Or Leave It."

2012: Radiohead, The Black Keys, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg

It seems like everyone who didn't go to Coachella in 2012 really missed out. I mean, imagine seeing Radiohead AND The Black Keys in the same weekend. And Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre also apparently had a great performance — Rolling Stone wrote that the duo had "revived a golden era."

2013: The Stone Roses, Phoenix, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers

Coachella 2013 had some mixed reviews. Pitchfork wrote that during The Stone Roses' performance, "empty water bottles outnumbered people in the audience." And during Phoenix's time on stage, R. Kelly came out and the duo performed a mash-up of "Ignition." (I'll let that speak for itself). Although, the general consensus on the Red Hot Chili Peppers' show seemed to be positive.

2014: OutKast, Muse, and Arcade Fire

Coachella 2014's headliners were definitely a mixed bag. Critics thought OutKast's set was "underwhelming," but were pleasantly surprised with Muse's performance. Arcade Fire also seemed to be a big hit with everyone.

2015: ACDC, Jack White, and Drake

Coachella 2015 definitely had its fair share of criticism and praise. On one hand, critics were not too happy with ACDC. The LA Times wrote that "the band couldn’t hold the crowd." Although, not all hope was lost for headliners: Jack White seemed to have killed it during his set. Drake's performance, however, caused an uproar after Madonna kissed him on stage.

2016: LCD Soundsystem, Guns N' Roses, and Calvin Harris

Like many of the other years, Coachella 2016 also had some clear "winners and losers." While LCD Soundsystem gave a very compelling performance, Guns N' Roses no longer possessed the same musical chemistry that pushed them to the top of rock music. And although 2016 seemed to be the year of EDM, Calvin Harris' set did not meet expectations and was even called "trite" by Pitchfork.

2017: Radiohead, Lady Gaga, and Kendrick Lamar

There were no complaints about 2017's headliners. Lady Gaga dazzled her audience with old hits like "Just Dance" and "LoveGame." As you could expect, Radiohead gave a great performance (I mean, it was their third time performing at Coachella.) Additionally, Kendrick Lamar brought the stage to life with his performances of "Humble" and "Mask Off."

2018: The Weeknd, Beyoncé, and Eminem

You may remember Coachella 2018, because it was all anyone seemed to be talking about. Beyoncé had actually made history that year as the first Black woman to headline the festival, and undoubtedly gave the performance of a lifetime. The Weeknd also had a successful performance, and fans were equally as impressed with the Rap God himself, Eminem.

2019: Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, and Ariana Grande

Coachella 2019 looked like it was *chef's kiss* — and according to Rolling Stone, it was. Childish Gambino showed off his creative genius with an all-around aesthetically pleasing set, Tame Impala wooed crowds during their performance of "The Less I Know The Better," and Ariana Grande brought four members of NSYNC on stage during a remix of "Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored."

2022: Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, and Ye

According to Variety, Styles might be dropping new music before the festival. (Fingers crossed!) In other exciting news, Eilish will be making history as the youngest headliner ever — at 20 years old. And as mentioned earlier, this will be Ye's second time headlining the festival.
