Everybody has opinions on celebrities — there are celebs that we genuinely like and get great vibes from, while there are other celebs that other people seem to love, but that we truly dislike and wish they would just disappear. But, then there are those rare cases of celebs that just seem to be universally beloved, and that no one seems to have anything bad to say about.

And recently, Reddit user u/Comprehensive-Home-4 wanted to know just that when they posed this question: "Who in the entertainment world do you believe is a genuinely good person?"
CBC/PopTV
Thousands of people replied with the celebrities they think are really good people (and some even with firsthand accounts). Here are some of the top-voted and best answers:
1. "Dolly Parton"

"She definitely is. When my kids were born the hospital gave me a paper that allowed us to sign up for free books through her foundation: The Dolly Parton Book Club. She established this free service so kids could learn and grow.
My guess is she has put in millions of dollars of her own money. No gimmicks, no buybacks, no strings attached.
A truly caring person."
—inewland
"She also gave a a large chunk of money that helped successfully find one of the COVID vaccines."

2. "Brendan Fraser"

"Watching him learn that real folks still have his back has been one of the great joys of my life."
—dbsgirl
"I just love his voice! He's a great actor and it's so sad what happened but I'm so glad he's getting back into roles again!!!"
—MommaOats-1
3. "Came here to say Keanu, he genuinely seems like an amazing person, humble, and down to earth — with his own quirks. He also hasn't let his popularity or fame go to his head like other big celebs. I think for him it was more how his parents raised him/what he came from, how he more or less fell upwards in his career in a good way."

"As a person, he seems to be quiet and stays out of the media as much as humanly possible for a celebrity, doesn't stir the pot so to speak, and if spotted in the wild might do something off the cuff such as joining a wedding if randomly invited/he has time in his schedule to do so.
I don't know, to me he's just an awesome person overall."
—Murazama
"I think it's also that he has been through such devastating losses and he chose to find peace and be a positive person instead of letting it break him. Hard to do."
—DianneQuinn
4. "Weird Al Yankovic!"

"If I ever hear of any scandal involving Weird Al, I'll eat my poodle hat. The man is a treasure and puts on a helluva live show (we went in July and had so much fun!)."
—Upstairs_Usual_4841
"I love telling this story:
So two of my friends got cast in the "White & Nerdy" video. They were dating at the time (eventually got married) so they had different last names. When they got to the set Weird Al was there to greet them personally and he knew them by name when they showed up. He put together that they were a couple right away and bent over backwards to make sure they were accommodated and got a room together and everything. He was blown away that he cast a couple separately in the video and told everyone in set about it. They said he was the nicest, most humble, and hardworking person they had ever met.
Weird Al is absolutely a gem of a human."

5. "Hugh Jackman"

"RIP Chadwick. That's one actor's death that really makes me feel so sad still to this day. He did amazing work on and off the screen. Damn."
—Antdawg2400
9. "Henry Winkler"

—Complete-Grape-1269
"He is such a sweet man. My wife was at the airport and crying because she’d packed her anxiety meds in the wrong bag and was having a panic attack. Henry Winkler came up to her and asked if she was okay, sat with her for a second and squeezed her shoulder. Really calmed her down and helped her get to her gate okay. The best kind of guy."
—disasterlesbianrn
"My wife works in entertainment and was working with Henry Winkler. He found out that my wife was three months pregnant and sent all his children's books to us and black and white cookies from Bea's Bakery in Los Angeles because my wife misses black and white cookies from Manhattan. He only knew my wife for a couple of hours, LOL. He is No. 1 on my list. I say this also as someone who really hates the industry. There are a lot of normal nice people, but man, the assholes are plentiful."
—WakaWakahh
10. "I've worked with Kathy Bates before. She is incredibly nice. A week after she was done working with us, an entire BBQ spread from her favorite place showed up for lunch for us (over 100 people) from her as a thank you."

11. "Steve Buscemi"

—Ok_Tap662
12. "Unfortunately his life was cut way, way too short, but by all accounts, James Gandolfini was a genuinely kindhearted and good person to everyone around him. Rest in peace, king."
Jason Laveris / FilmMagic
—clevergirls_
"I heard he was so nice and down to earth."
—Comprehensive-Home-4
13. "Shaquille O'Neal gives away a ton of money, is good natured, and appreciative of his fans. When he came to Boston, folks were a little hostile at first because he came from an 'enemy' team. He went out of the way to show the fans how much he appreciated them and had a lot of fun with them. He tweeted one day he was in Harvard Square and to come get a picture with him. Dude was standing like a statue and people could come up and pose with him. Super fun personality and just embraced his new home."

—hissyfit64
"One of the interesting things I heard about Shaq is that his momma raised him to be humble and she helped keep him on that track when he was a rising star. Who can't like a person who respects his mother after becoming a superstar?"
—Lost_my_brainjuice
"Since he moved to Texas he has been around locally and will stop everything to pay for purchases about to be made by everyone already in line. So far I know about Walmart and HEB. I doubt those are the only ones."
—Low_Ad_3139
14. "Betty White"
Frederick M. Brown / Getty Images
—MJohnVan
"Truly inspirational. Did amazing work for animals and really put herself out there against racism in the 1950s."
—altmoonjunkie
"One of the all-time nicest according to everything I heard about her."

15. "Ken Jeong. Met him for work and he was very personable and an absolute delight."
