Crystals are having a moment — and you can spot them everywhere, from trendy, well-designed homes to your coworker's office desk. Whether you believe in their healing powers or just think they are pretty, crystals are a beautiful addition to your decor. With a simple DIY kit, you can grow your own! I picked one up at my local craft store and gave it a try. I grew a gorgeous blue quartz crystal in 10 days. The hardest part was not disturbing the crystal and being patient while it grew. However, it's a beautiful addition to my crystal collection and was worth the wait. If you want to give it a shot, check out these simple steps.

The first step is picking out a crystal-growing kit. They are cheap and average from $5 and up! I've even seen them at the dollar store.
2. Stir Stick
Place the stir stick in the jar, arrow side down.
3. Add Boiling Water
Add boiling water to the fill line on the stir stick.
4. Add Color Granules
Pour the color granules into the jar and stir until dissolved, which takes about five minutes.
5. Cool Down
Let the water cool completely and add the tablet to the jar.
6. Wait 10 Days
Allow 10 days for the crystal to fully form. Be careful not to disturb the crystal while it grows.
7. Discard Liquid
Discard any remaining liquid and then — voilà! — look at your masterpiece!
8. Display Your Beauty
Although the directions suggested keeping it in the jar, I pulled mine out so that I could display it with my other crystals.
9. Next Time
When I grow crystals again, I will keep the crystal growing for the longest time possible. Although my crystal turned out small, it is absolutely gorgeous!
10. DIY Kits
