Those of us who grew up watching Boy Meets World will forever think of Mr. Feeny as a mentor and an unwavering moral compass, there to remind us that it’s not as important to “do well” in life as it is to “do good.”
Well, it seems like the actor who played him, William Daniels, is just as much of a man of action as his beloved sitcom counterpart. According to TMZ, Daniels was in his home in California’s San Fernando Valley with his wife, Bonnie Bartlett, on Saturday night when a burglar attempted to burst in through the back door.
Despite being 91 years-old, Daniels immediately sprang into action, chasing the intruder off of his property.
Police believe it was a random act and not tied to the string of celebrity burglaries across the city. Personally, I’d like to think it was just Eric Matthews (played by Will Friedle) trying to shimmy his way in for some late-night advice.
While he wasn’t a regular on the spin-off show, Girl Meets World, Mr. Feeny made several nostalgic cameo appearances in which he provided the comfort and sage advice we know and love, and reminded us that even when you don’t think Feeny is there, he is always there.
And if you didn’t watch Boy Meets World, you may recognize Daniels from his iconic appearances across a range of amazing 1980s TV shows. He played the whip-smart and soothing Dr. Craig on the pioneering hospital drama St. Elsewhere and voiced the AI-powered car K.I.T.T. on Knight Rider.
