sub-buzz-1236-1643058600-4.jpg

Netflix

Unlike other series, Louis and Andreas purposefully decided "not to get together too much to talk about Jonas." Andreas explained that part of the "richness of the character" came from it being played by three different actors. Meanwhile, Louis gave a lot of credit to the casting department for picking actors who are "naturally plausible as the same person."

5. Matilda Lawler and Mackenzie Davis as Kirsten Raymonde from Station Eleven

sub-buzz-748-1643045169-7.jpg

HBO Max

The first time Matilda and Mackenzie met was when they did a camera test during the audition process. In fact, they didn't have any conversations about playing the same character before filming. Mackenzie explained, "Matilda kind of originated the character, which also feels right to me. I don’t think you’re one person in your entire life. There are through lines. I think the casting is incredible with Matilda and me, and there are really subtle strains between the two of us."

Chyler explained, "I didn’t have to direct her. Really only on a couple little things. What I was trying to do, both with she and Bela, was just to have fun by giving them just little things — either the way that they were standing, or like a little look, or something to the two of them that’s almost like a little wink or a nod to how we are in the future."

sub-buzz-767-1643046910-6.jpg

Netflix

Speaking about working with Nikki on creating Georgia, Brianne said, "We started more with just the physicality [of Georgia]. They highlighted her hair to match what mine already was. But the rest was just kind of hanging out. A lot of it was just her instincts. She did a lot of [the character development] on her own, and I was completely blown away by her performance." Also, for Halloween in 2019, Nikki dressed up as Brianne's character from The Passage.

Me and Violet [McGraw] are like sisters. We have that same bond. Netflix

Ashley and Henny approached playing Carol a little differently, since they were playing her in two completely different stages in her life. Speaking about young Carol, Ashley said, "This is just my take, Henny Russell would probably have different answers, but for young Carol, I think the best theme would be a 'cycle of violence.' There are a bunch of examples from the storyline where she is both a victim of, and a perpetrator of, violence."

27. Elisha Henig and Ramy Youssef as Ramy from Ramy

sub-buzz-1033-1643055363-23.jpg

Hulu

To prepare for the role of young Mia, Tiffany went to set when she wasn't filming in order to watch Kerry. Tiffany explained, "I would pick certain scenes I felt I really needed to see her work on. I wrote notes and paid close attention to the way her body moved — the way her head tilted, the way she listened, all of that. Kerry's such a specific actress, which was really a gift to me. I wanted to make sure I was getting the essence of her and her body, not mimicking or doing an impression of her."
